On Sunday, 8/12, twenty women and young ladies (10 years old being the youngest ) spent 6-hours with Damon Keeve, a 6th degree black belt, 2x Judo Olympian and veteran member of the San Francisco SWAT, and SWJA Sensei’s, learning about various aspects of women’s self-defense. Majority of the training provided insight into situational awareness and preparedness, the necessary mental attitude in the event you are approached or attacked of “I will defend, fight, escape and survive”, and the physical techniques to fight and repel an attacker.
All the women trained very hard and the class culminated with them having to actually “hit, punch, strike and kick” to defend themselves from a padded attacker, Rich Sensei. The women learned a lot and feel more aware of what they need to, and can, do to defend themselves, mentally and physically.
Thanks to all the women who spent the day with SWJA, and special thanks to Damon Keeve for sharing his knowledge and experience from all his years of being a police officer.
